It's Great To Be A Rotarian!
First
chartered in 1978, the members of the Rotary Club of the Triad provide
direct support to our selected charities
by participating in service projects and fundraisers. The club meets
on Tuesdays at noon for lunch at the String
and Splinter Club in downtown High Point, NC. All visiting Rotarians
and prospective members are cordially
invited to attend.
Just In: Mickey Horner, pictured above, was a recent guest speaker at our club. Mickey represents Stop Hunger Now, an organization that partners with volunteers of civic clubs, churches, and schools to help package and provide nutritious meals for hungry people throughout the globe. Over the past 10 years, Stop Hunger Now has distributed millions of meals to over 65 countries. The Rotary Club of the Triad has applied for a District 7690 Simplified Grant to help underwrite part of the cost of the ingredients that go into each meal packet. We are planning a big food packaging event for sometime in January or February 2009. Keep an eye on this web site for updates concerning this project!
Triad Rotary Partners with High Point Museum to Promote Literacy
One of our Rotary club's literacy projects this year features books written and illustrated by grandparents and their grandchildren, which culminates in "Family Reading Night" at the High Point Museum at 7 PM on Tuesday, October 21. Three stories which share the seniors' family history for their grandchildren will be read during this free event; for more information, please call the High Point Museum at 885-1859.
Oprah's BIG GIVE Piedmont
Oprah Winfrey and the ABC Television Network have challenged abc45 (the Triad's local ABC affiliate) with a grant of $10,000 to make a difference in the Piedmont community by "Giving Big!"

Click Oprah's image above to learn how Rotarians in District 7690 are meeting the challenge to raise money to help polio victims living in the Piedmont.
Need A New Home?
The Triad Rotary Club's major fundraiser this year is the construction and sale of
a 4-bedroom brick home located
just off Sandy Ridge Road in Colfax, NC. Various contractors
and building supply stores in our area are working together to
provide discounted services or supplies to help offset the cost of building
the house. The proceeds from the sale of the home will help provide
support for several youth scholarships and local
charities.

The photo shown above was taken after the landscaping
and sod installation was completed. Read
more about this project and find out how you can
participate and help raise money for the scholarships and charities
our club supports.
We are proud to be a 100% Paul Harris Club, as
well as the recipient of several Gold Club awards from District
7690. On behalf of Blair Rankin, president for 2008-2009,
we welcome you to our web site.
